In Extraordinary Times … Refocus and Rewire

Anyone recognize the album cover?

Our world has changed quickly. Staying calm can be HARD to do! Patience is what’s called for. It’s time for a reset … like it or not. Every business, all leaders, each professional, needs to adapt.

A webcast this week which got me thinking about what current and aspiring business leaders might do now … to use these extraordinary times to refocus and rewire for what’s next.

First, it’s about your health, your family and their overall safety and security. Period.

Second, with a calm and rational mindset … take stock of the situation. As a business leader, take a 360-degree look around you … what are your clients/customers expecting from you, what are the concerns of your staff, how do you keep valuable stakeholders (investors, bankers, partners) informed, how will you effectively communicate during the crisis, what barriers do you anticipate? There’s a lot to think about … but take some comfort … everyone is in the same position … we’re all in this together.

Finally, how will you use this time to grow? A few suggestions …

  1. Take advantage of the remote/distant learning opportunities that are becoming available … what have you been interested in recently, and what skills do want to explore?

  2. Explore what passions have been on your mind, and take some time to research and dig into problems you would like to be a part of solving, or look into some social issues that have been keeping you up at night, and

  3. Reflect on your path (career path, life journey, etc.) and evaluate if it needs an adjustment.

In summary, it’s time to be patient, calm and proactive. Connect with me if you’d like to talk about this. I’m completing training to become a Professional Coach, and would like to be a resource for you in these unique times. Over the last few months, I’ve gained a terrific perspective on the power of coaching, and the benefits of having an independent perspective as a guide through these challenging times. I’d love to help you. I have also developed some awesome new friends in the coaching community that I would be happy to connect you with.

And let me know if you recognize the album cover! Bonus points if you can tell me how it relates to this post!!

Stay safe (at a distance!)
